Finally, the time has come....

Today was the day I did something I've been waiting several months to do. Here's a clue:

Yes, I went swimming today! First swim day of the year. The air temperature was right around 80, and the water temper was about 72. Still a little chilly, but definitely swim-able! So let the swimming season begin!

On an unrelated note, these things were flying overhead this evening:

I especially like the cactus on the side of the one balloon. I don't think we'll ever actually get in one - would be our luck that a plane would fly into the balloon and send us tumbling to the ground. No thanks....

Colds stink.....

After a week of Alka Seltzer, Tylenol and Contact-D, I think the worst is over and now we just have to deal with the pesky cold part.

We have a morning glory plant out back that is really producing some pretty flowers:

In an unrelated note, this weekend was Paint the Laundry Room weekend. We even did it the right way - went to Home Depot, asked the folks what type of primer to use, primed everything yesterday, and got the main color on the walls today. Unfortunately, it needs another coat. Ugh, I hate that!

Another start to the work week tomorrow....should be an interesting one!

I'm Sick....

I have bronchitis. How do I know that? The Miracle of the Internet. I don't need no stinkin' doctor*. *Note to stinkin' doctors - no offense.

After countless minutes of research, it was clear to me that I have bronchitis. Acute, at that. Raspy cough, etc. I blame the office. I went to work anyhow. I don't want to get anyone at home sick; that's what co-workers are for.

I discovered alka-seltzer has some fun new flavors though - this is the Orange Zest in action:

In an unrelated note, here's a picture of Miss Kitty. She always seems to find a little ray of sunlight to hang out in.

"T" is For "Teambuilder"!

Friday was "teambuilder" day at the office. My boss had been trying for a year to get us out golfing, and finally we did it.

It was a nice day - mid-70's and sunny. 4 teams of 3 for a little "best ball" scramble. Our admin named the teams - mine was "The Yellow Birdies". I was team leader :)

So how did we do? Well, this is what I came home with:

Yes, first place. All thanks to my expert leadership, of course! I got a First Place certificate, a clock thingie, and a $25 gift card to any of several restaurant chains. In theory, I am supposed to rotate the clock amongst my team, but since both my teammates actually work for me, I am flexing my managerial muscle and keeping it all to myself! Mwuahahaha!

On the down side, I got a little sunburned. Oh well, small price to pay for getting out of the office (and out of work!) for a few hours.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Happy St. Patrick's Day! As the story goes, my ancestors on my Dad's side came to America from Ireland in the 1840's, to escape the hardships resulting from the Irish Potato Famine.

I wish I drank, because I would drink myself silly with green beer today to try and kill whatever bug is trying to infest me right now....

What a difference a day makes!

If you checked out Joe's site yesterday, you saw we had quite a bit of rain here in Phoenix - a nice treat after 145 days without.

While the rain was much-needed, it really made for a gloomy dark day. But with many things, what a difference a day makes! This was a shot of the pool yesterday:

And this was today:

Now if we can just get the air temperature to stay above 80, we can start thinking about swimming.

Signs of Life

It looks like the lemon tree that we bought and planted last year is taking to its new home! I captured these blossoms the other day:

With a little luck and some fertilizer, they will turn into more of these:
It also looks like the orange trees, which have not produced anything in the 2 years we've been here, are also flowering. I've got my hopes up!
